Privacy Policy
The short version: We collect your email address so we can send you the Thursday List. We never sell or rent it. Sponsors never see it. You can unsubscribe in one click, and you can ask us to delete everything we hold about you.
Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how SeniorPerksList Media LLC (“SeniorPerksList,” “we,” “us”) handles personal information. It covers the website seniorperkslist.com and our email newsletters, including the weekly Thursday List and the optional Flash Perk Alerts.
Our address is 2150 Orchard Hill Road, Suite 210, Asheville, NC 28801, USA. You can reach us at privacy@seniorperkslist.com or (828) 555-0147.
What we collect
When you sign up
Our signup forms ask for one thing: your email address. Along with it, we record:
- Which form you used (the top of the home page, the bottom of the page, the site footer, or an issue page).
- The page you were on when you signed up.
- A hashed version of your IP address. Hashing scrambles the address so we cannot read it back. We keep it only to spot spam and fake signups.
- The date and time you signed up and confirmed.
When you read our emails
Like most newsletters, our emails contain a tiny image (a “pixel”) and links that pass through our email service provider. These tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. We use this to learn which deals readers find useful. You can block it by turning off images in your email program. The Cookie Policy explains this in more detail.
When you write to us
If you reply to an issue, send a tip, or report a correction, we keep your message and your email address so we can answer you.
Server logs
Our web host keeps standard server logs. These include IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. They are used for security and to fix problems. We do not use them to build profiles.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for your name, mailing address, birth date, phone number, or payment details. We do not load third-party analytics or advertising trackers on the website.
How we use your information
- To send the newsletters you asked for.
- To confirm your signup through double opt-in. You only join after you click the link in our confirmation email.
- To send partner offers, but only if you opted in to them.
- To answer your questions and fix mistakes you report.
- To understand, in total, which deals and topics readers find useful.
- To keep our forms and website safe from spam and abuse.
- To meet our legal duties.
Legal bases for readers in the EU and UK
Most of our readers live in the United States. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the GDPR or UK GDPR gives you extra rights. We rely on these legal bases:
- Consent for sending newsletters, Flash Perk Alerts, and partner offers, and for email open and click tracking. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests for security, spam prevention, server logs, and answering messages you send us.
- Legal obligation where the law requires us to keep or share records.
You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the newsletter. They may use it only to provide their service to us.
| Category | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Website hosting | Runs the website and stores signup records in WordPress | United States |
| Email service provider | Sends our emails and measures opens and clicks | United States |
| Content delivery and security | Speeds up page loads and blocks attacks | United States and global network |
We never sell or rent your email address. Sponsors and affiliate partners never receive subscriber data. When we send a sponsor’s message, we send it ourselves. We may also share information if the law requires it, or if our business is sold, in which case this policy would still protect you.
How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Subscriber record | While you are subscribed, then up to 30 days |
| Unsubscribed address (suppression list) | Kept so we never email you again by mistake |
| Unconfirmed signups | 30 days |
| Open and click data | 24 months |
| Emails you send us | Up to 3 years |
| Server logs | Up to 90 days |
Unsubscribing and email rules
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click removes you. We follow the CAN-SPAM Act. Every email shows our postal address and is clearly from us. Sponsored content is always labeled.
Children
The Thursday List is written for adults 55 and older. It is not meant for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has signed up, please tell us and we will delete the record.
Your US state privacy rights
California residents have rights under the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA. Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states have similar rights. Wherever you live, we offer these rights to all readers:
- Know what personal information we hold about you and how we use it.
- Delete your personal information.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell your information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. See Your Privacy Choices.
We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
How to use your rights
Email privacy@seniorperkslist.com from the address you subscribed with. Tell us what you would like us to do. We may ask you to confirm by clicking a link we send to that address. We reply within 45 days, and usually much sooner. An authorized agent may act for you with your written permission.
Partner offers and sponsors
Some readers choose to receive occasional dedicated emails about a single partner’s offer. This is a separate choice from the Thursday List. You can say yes or no when you sign up, and you can change your mind at any time on Your Privacy Choices.
When a sponsor pays for a dedicated email, we send it from our own email account, to our own list. The sponsor never receives your address, your name, or your click history. After a send, a sponsor sees only totals, such as how many emails were delivered and how many people clicked in all. These numbers cannot be traced back to you.
The same is true for affiliate links. When you click a link and buy something, the merchant knows about the sale, as it would with any purchase. It does not receive your subscriber record from us.
International readers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers store data in the United States. If you read from another country, your information will be handled in the United States. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, with our service providers.
Readers in the EU and UK may also ask us to limit how we use their information, to object to our use based on legitimate interests, and to receive a copy of their data in a common format. Send these requests to the same address listed below.
Security
We use encrypted connections, strong passwords, two-step login for staff, and limited access. Only the people who need subscriber data can see it. No system is perfect. If a breach ever affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change, we will update the effective date and mention it in the newsletter before it takes effect.
