Editorial Standards
The short version: Every week our editors look at about 600 offers and keep about 25. A real person checks every one. If we get something wrong, we fix it the same day.
Who we are
SeniorPerksList was founded in 2021 by Rose Delgado, our Founder and Editor. Our team has six people. Dot Haverford is our Freebies Editor. Walt Brennan is our Savings Editor. We write the Thursday List for about 184,000 readers aged 55 and older.
How we choose deals
Each week we review about 600 offers and keep about 25. A deal makes the list only if it passes three tests:
- It beats the public price. The senior deal must be better than what anyone can get with a coupon or sale.
- It is widely available. It must work online or in several states, not just one store.
- The terms fit in two sentences. If we cannot explain the rules simply, we leave it out.
A person checks every deal
No deal goes out because a computer found it. One of our editors reads the fine print, checks the merchant’s own website, and calls or emails when something is unclear. We note the date we checked.
The age requirement comes first
Many discounts start at 50, 55, 60, or 65. We put the age requirement in the first line of every listing, so you know right away if it applies to you.
Freebies we request ourselves
Before we list a free sample, our team requests it first, using the same form you would. If it never arrives, asks for a credit card, or leads to a sales call, we drop it.
No mystery subscriptions
We will not list an offer that quietly signs you up for something you pay for later. If a trial turns into a paid plan, we say so plainly, and we tell you how to cancel.
Corrections
We make mistakes sometimes. Prices change, and merchants end deals early. Here is what we do:
- Tell us. Just reply to the email. A person reads every reply.
- We fix it the same day in the web edition of the issue.
- We note it in the next issue, so everyone who read the mistake sees the fix.
Editorial and advertising stay separate
Our editors decide what goes in the newsletter. Sponsors and affiliate partners have no say. Sponsors cannot buy a pick or the Perk of the Week. Paid content is always labeled “Sponsored.” Our Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure explains how this works.
Emails that are easy to read
We design every email to be comfortable to read:
- Large type and plenty of space between lines.
- Clear, large buttons that are easy to tap.
- Strong contrast between text and background.
- Short paragraphs and plain words.
- Descriptions for every image, so the email makes sense with images turned off.

Fairness and tone
We write for adults who have spent a lifetime making good decisions. We never use scare tactics, fake countdown timers, or “act now” pressure. We do not call readers “elderly” or treat age as a problem. When a deal has a catch, we say so plainly, in the listing itself, not in small print.
Health, money, and safety topics
Sometimes we mention discounts on hearing aids, eyeglasses, insurance, or financial services. We describe the offer, not whether it is right for you. We are not affiliated with AARP, Medicare, or any government agency. We will never ask for your Medicare number or Social Security number, and we warn readers about common scams aimed at older adults.
