Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure
The short version: We earn money from labeled sponsors and from affiliate links. You never pay more because of us. Sponsors cannot buy our picks, and they never get your email address.
Why we tell you this
The Federal Trade Commission’s Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) require us to tell you when we have a financial connection to a product we mention. We would tell you anyway. Trust is the reason people read the Thursday List.
How we make money
The newsletter is free to read. It is paid for in three ways:
- Sponsored newsletter placements. A company pays to appear in one labeled spot in an issue. Prices start at $2,400 per issue.
- Dedicated sponsor emails. A single email about one partner’s offer, sent only to readers who opted in to partner offers. Prices start at $6,500 per send. We send no more than one a month.
- Affiliate links. Some links, including many in the Perks Directory of more than 1,900 standing senior discounts, pay us a share of a sale or a fee when you sign up. This is called a revenue share or cost per action (CPA).
How we label paid content
Every paid placement is labeled “Sponsored” right next to it. Dedicated sponsor emails say “Sponsored” in the subject line and at the top. We never disguise an ad as a news item or an editor’s pick.
Affiliate links never change your price
When you use an affiliate link, the merchant pays us, not you. Your price is the same as if you went to the merchant directly. If a merchant offers a better deal elsewhere, we tell you about the better deal, even if it earns us nothing.
Sponsors cannot buy our picks
Our editors choose every deal on their own, using our Editorial Standards. Sponsors cannot pay to:
- Be included as an editorial pick.
- Become the Perk of the Week.
- Change, review, or approve what we write.
- Remove a deal or a correction.
Whether a link earns a commission plays no part in whether a deal is chosen. Our advertising team and our editors work separately.
Dedicated emails and your choice
Dedicated sponsor emails go only to readers who chose to receive partner offers. If you did not opt in, you will not get them. You can opt out at any time on Your Privacy Choices or by using the link in any partner email. The weekly Thursday List keeps coming either way.
Sponsors never get your address
We send every sponsor email ourselves. We never give, sell, or rent reader email addresses to sponsors or affiliate partners. Sponsors only receive totals, such as how many people clicked. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
Products we receive
Sometimes a company sends us a free sample so we can check a freebie. Getting a sample never guarantees coverage. If a free product shaped what we wrote, we say so.
Reviews and recommendations
When we say a deal is good, it is because our editors believe it is good. We do not accept payment for positive reviews. If a company asks us to remove a negative note, the answer is no. If an editor has a personal connection to a company, that editor steps aside and another editor makes the decision.
Report a concern
If something looks like an unlabeled ad, or a sponsor seems to have influenced our coverage, please tell us. Email hello@seniorperkslist.com or call (828) 555-0147. Our founder and editor, Rose Delgado, reviews every concern.
Companies interested in advertising can write to partners@seniorperkslist.com.
